UART Connection Without Soldering

For debugging purposes, most of SmartLabs set-top boxes have a UART pad on their PCB without pins installed. Normally UART pins are not installed in mass-productions STBs because this port is not intended to be used by end-user. Thus, if necessary, you can apply the following method to work with the UART interface.

  1. Find the UART pad on PCB.
  1. Take a 2.54 mm header with 4 pins and insert into the UART connector.
  1. Plug the opposite side of header to PCB.
  1. Use a flipped business card to fix header without soldering.
